Nothing sparks more joy than hopping on an international flight. A few weeks ago I took a trip to Finland with Finn Air to kick off their new direct flight from LAX to Helsinki. It was my first time visiting the country and it did not disappoint. There is something so special about Finland, maybe it’s their deep appreciation of nature, affinity for saunas or commitment to sustainability. Either way, I was in love.
The first leg of the trip we spent exploring Helsinki, Finland’s capitol. The city is small and slow paced but offer’s everything you’d expect from a major metropolitan destination. Like most Nordic cities—everything in Helsinki is clean, efficient and done with intention. The beginning of the summer season meant the sun stays up until 10:00pm which meant that rooftop drinks at Löyly, a modern seaside sauna, were a no brainer.
After our time in Helsinki we took a road trip down south to Hanko, a quaint seaside village that closely resembled the Hamptons. This was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip as we got to spend a lot of time outdoors. From bike rides through the forest to kayaking through the Baltic Sea—it was something i’ll never forget.
