I've been putting off this blog post for a few days now, in hopes of avoiding the sad reality that I no longer have pristine beaches and organic fruit smoothies at my disposal. If you couldn't tell from my incessant Instagram and snapchat posts last week, Tulum was AMAZING.
My good friend Teddy recently graduated from law school and as a surprise, a group of us conspired together and lured him to Mexico under the false pretense that he was going to be traveling for a job. Little did he know, we were all waiting for him at a palatial property in the heart of Tulum--eagerly anticipating the moment we could all resume documenting our whereabouts online.
To say it was a bonafide success would be an understatement, once the initial shock wore off it we wasted no time in exploring every corner of Tulum. At the risk of sounding like a pretentious douche bag, I have to be honest and say I was a little weary of what was in store--everyone and their mother has been to Tulum. However once on the ground, it made no difference how many times I've seen the interior of the Couqui Couqui on Instagram--Tulum has an energy that is unexplainable. Your mind slows down, your eyes hang a little lower and your skin glistens in the humidity
My biggest take away form this trip is that there is nothing like traveling with a group of real friends--the kind you can sweat profusely in front of without shame or embarrassment. Having the luxury of being your true authentic self in paradise, is priceless and should never be taken for granted.
